The Samburu region is the best place to find several endemic Northern species; including the Gerenuk (Twiga gazelle) due to her long neck, the beisa Oryx, the Reticulated Giraffe, the Somali ostrich and Grevy’s Zebra. Samburu is also an ornithological paradise, home to many birds including local species such as the Palm Nut Vulture and the Vivacious Dove.

The Mara Game Reserve can never disappoint. One is spoilt by the variety of bird and wildlife species in this Game Reserve….. For a long time, Mara Game Reserve has stubbed her authority as the ‘granary’ of wildlife in Kenya.

You'll meet our team, we'll explain what happens next and answer any questions you might have. Then all that's left to do is go and start this safari trip of a lifetime together.

You're in for a treat when you visit Samburu National Reserve with us. Expect glorious scenery, four of the Big Five (no rhino), hyenas, giraffes, hippos and zebras. Samburu highlights include some prized northern specialties, such as Somali ostrich, gerenuk, Grevy's zebra, beisa oryx and reticulated giraffe. And bring your binoculars: almost 400 bird species have been seen within the reserve's boundaries.

Our expert guide will take you on a game drive and you’ll see a large number of animals and learn so much about wildlife this afternoon in Shaba National Reserve.

You're in for a treat when you stay at Ashnil Samburu Camp. It's surrounded by doum palms alongside the Ewaso Nyiro River, inside Buffalo Springs Game Reserve but well located for Samburu National Reserve just across the river. Wildlife is everywhere, and the stunning tents are large, have wood floors, and most have stirring views. A swimming pool, bar and restaurant round out a fine package.

Return to the splendid Samburu National Reserve and enjoy getting to know the place a little better.

You'll be joining us in Samburu National Reserve for a guided game drive. It's a fantastic opportunity to see some of the animals you came so far to see.

Day 3

Masai Mara National Reserve

Kenya has some incredible wildlife destinations, but the Masai Mara National Reserve may well be the best of them all. This classic East African landscape of savannah grasslands, rolling hills, acacia woodlands and distant escarpments is itself impressive. But it's also the backdrop to one of the densest concentrations of wildlife on the planet. The Mara is known for its big cats, and this is certainly one of the best places to see lion, leopard and cheetah. You're almost guaranteed to see elephant, giraffe, buffalo, Thomson's gazelle, hippo, wildebeest and zebra, while black rhinos are possible in the Mara Triangle. And that's just the start. The Masai Mara is home to over 500 bird species too.

Afternoon

This afternoon you get to go on a guided game drive which is always a safari highlight. It's an especially good way to explore Masai Mara National Reserve and get to know the wildlife and the animals that you might see.

Surrounded by trees and overlooking a bend of the Mara River, Ashnil Mara Camp is a wonderful base while you're in the Masai Mara. There's always lots of wildlife nearby (including crocs and hippos in the river down below), and the safari tents here have wood floors and a real sense of quiet luxury. Enjoy also the swimming pool, massage and spa center, and the views from the bar and restaurant.

Going on safari once in the Masai Mara is a privilege, but you get to return to this special place and enjoy it all over again.
