Amboseli National Park

After all the time you've spent planning and dreaming about going on safari, this is where it finally starts. Your guide will meet you and explain everything you need to know and answer any questions you might have. And then we'll go out on safari together.

You'll be visiting one of the best safari parks in Africa when you come to Amboseli. The park is filled with big-tusked elephants, and Mt Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain (5895m), looms over Amboseli. This combination makes for some fantastic photos, especially when the clouds clear over the summit as they do most days around sunrise and sunset. You also have a good chance of seeing lions, cheetahs, hyenas, zebras, buffaloes, giraffes (out in the park's east), wildebeests and plenty of gazelles. The park is also terrific for birding, with 420 species recorded.

Activity Day 1

Afternoon

Your guided game drive through Amboseli National Park this afternoon is sure to be a highlight of your safari. Your expert guide will help you look for lions, cheetahs, elephants and more, all with Africa's highest summit in the background.

Activity Day 2

You'll be heading down more safari trails in search of animals in Amboseli National Park when we take you on a guided game drive. This is the best thing about many safaris, and you'll hopefully see many animals.

Accommodation Day 1 & 2

Nyati Safari Camp

Tented camp Just outside Amboseli National Park

You'll sleep at Nyati Safari Camp, out on the plains and amid the acacias east of Amboseli National Park. You're a short drive from the park's Kimana Gate entrance, and you'll even have Mt Kilimanjaro views whenever the clouds clear. Accommodations are in elevated safari tents with canvas walls and floors, making this one of few budget tented camps in the area.

Day 3

Lake Nakuru National Park

Lake Nakuru National Park has lots of fans, and you're sure to be one after you visit. Although the park is only minutes away from the busy town of Nakuru, it has an incredible wildlife offering. This includes large numbers of both black and white rhino, endangered Rothschild's giraffes, pink flamingos, and lions that climb trees. This is one of only a handful of parks in Africa where you can see lions up in the branches. The view out over the lake from high on the escarpment is superb, while the lake itself is surrounded by acacia woodlands.

Activity Day 3

Get to know Lake Nakuru National Park on a guided game drive. We'll take you out in a safari vehicle with an expert guide to go looking for the park's lions, rhinos, flamingos and more.

You'll feel like you're staying in a peaceful rural area despite being on the outskirts of busy Nakuru here at Lanet Matfam Resort. Lake Nakuru National Park is just a short drive away, while the rooms (with mosquito nets) are simple and quiet. The swimming pool, complete with a grass island, is a feature here.

Day 4 & 5

Masai Mara National Reserve

We think you'll love the Masai Mara National Reserve, one of the best places to watch wildlife anywhere in Kenya. You're almost guaranteed to see plenty of predators, including lions, leopards, cheetahs and spotted hyenas. With so many impalas, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes and other prey species here, as well as over 500 bird species, you'll see plenty of safari action. Black rhinos are possible in the Mara Triangle. Also everywhere are elephants, giraffes and hippos, and everyone who visits falls in love with the Masai Mara's classic safari landscapes.

Activity Day 4

Afternoon

Come with us as we explore the Masai Mara on a guided game drive this afternoon. It's the best way to see the animals (possibly including big cats) and scenery of this wonderful reserve.

Activities Day 5

Early Morning

The guided game drive is the best thing about going on safari and that's what you'll be doing early this morning in Masai Mara National Reserve. From the comfort of your vehicle, there's always a chance that you might see some of the animals that you came so far to see.

Afternoon

It's time for you to go on a guided game drive in Masai Mara National Reserve this afternoon. No matter how many times you go, you'll never grow tired of the experience.

Staying at Enchoro Wildlife Camp means being close to the Oloolaimutia gate into the Masai Mara National Reserve and well connected to local Maasai communities. Accommodation ranges from a shady camping area to simple safari tents that come in a range of sizes and styles. It's a good place to meet other travelers, especially in the onsite restaurant.
